phthalo green was my least favourite colour for oil painting. it was always on the list of required supplies for high school art classes, and i never understood why. with such a strong pigment, it was the best candidate to mistakenly mess up any colour mix, and its dark emerald shade just seemed too unnatural for the landscapes and still life compositions we were required to paint.
fast forward to now and all is forgiven. because phthalo green has reentered my life in the form of OPI’s Here Today… Aragon Tomorrow. i know: in bottle it look like slightly yellow, more forest green than jade. but there are definite emerald blue undertones to this shade—which i find necessary in any green lacquer; yellow-greens just look way too witchy with my skin tone.
also, i’ve been hunting for a dark green to lovelovelove ever since NARS Zulu came and went, and Here Today… has filled that void. for now.
