found just now in my Photo Booth archives—two manis i did and twitpic’d last summer that deserve blog recognition. both purple!
top: purple ombre.
bottom: pepto-purple chevrons.
summer! it’s time to do some new nail art…
“In collaboration with Alice + Olivia’s designer Stacey Bendet, Minx also created custom patterns for the Alice + Olivia Spring 2011 presentation, including dalmatian, flowers, zebra, colored checkerboard, and a variety of other unique patterns and designs.”
i love this coloured checkerboard design. it reminds me of old TV test patterns, and you don’t usually see such straight lines in nail art. also, i’m really into that coral lipstick!

dollar store rhinestones, some krazy glue, various glitter polishes, and OPI’s Moon Over Mumbai…
…just a little something i’m working on.
nail queen (and source of almost all my manicure-related inspiration!) Sophy Robson has started a new tumblr: So So Fly Nails. see above for an example of the types of images you can find there—it’s the craziest most indulgent sort of nail art, and exactly what i’m dying to have done.
i’m going to be driving across the USA this fall, so if you know of a fantastic CalGel artist who’s located between Toronto and Houston, please let me know. otherwise i may seriously book a trip to NYC just to visit Marie Nails or Sakura.
seriously. trying to compose my thoughts on how i feel about this nail art by the very talented stop it right now has proved futile. let’s just say it’s somewhere between “how soon can i collect the items needed to try this at home?” and “eeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!”
just. amazing. i really didn’t think anything could top the Chanel drip nails she crafted earlier in april, but. here we are with Miu Miu. nail art! i’m looking at you in a whole new light now. (and: cursing the lack of a Calgel salon in Toronto even more.)
(all images via stop it right now.)
